Operational Readiness Indicator

EU AI Act Compliance Guidance

What is the Operational Readiness Indicator?

The Operational Readiness Indicator is a management tool that measures how much evidence and documentation you have gathered across all logged incidents. It reflects the completeness of your incident logging and evidence collection processes, not a legal certification of compliance.

Important: This indicator is a management metric for internal use. It does not constitute a regulatory conformity assessment or legal certification under the EU AI Act.

How is it Calculated?

The score combines three factors:

  • Process Completeness (40%): Percentage of incidents with required fields completed
  • Documentation Quality (40%): Percentage of incidents with attached evidence files
  • Performance Tracking (20%): Consistency of incident logging over time

EU AI Act Context

Under the EU AI Act, high-risk AI systems must maintain detailed records of incidents (Article 12) and provide technical documentation (Article 11). The Operational Readiness Indicator helps you track your progress in meeting these documentation requirements.

Key Articles

  • Article 11: Technical documentation requirements for high-risk AI systems
  • Article 12: Record-keeping obligations for incidents and malfunctions
  • Article 14: Human oversight requirements and documentation
